— Dr. Yerukhim

We offer treatments for a variety of nasal conditions, including:

  • Deviated Nasal Septum: Deviated Nasal Septum: A person has a deviated septum when the middle walls separating the nostrils is displaced or crooked. Significant deviations can result in breathing problems, pain, pressure and sometimes headaches as well as lead to external deformities.  In the hands of our expert nasal surgeon, the solution is usually a 30 minute outpatient procedure, with drastic improvement in symptoms.

  • Turbinate Hypertrophy: Turbinate hypertrophy refers to the enlargement or swelling of the turbinates, which are bony structures covered with mucous membranes inside the nasal passages. The turbinates are responsible for warming, humidifying, and filtering the air we breathe. When these structures become enlarged, it can obstruct airflow and lead to various symptoms and discomfort. Symptoms often include nasal obstruction that switches from one side to another, nasal obstruction worst with laying down, nasal obstruction worst in the lower facing nostril when laying on the side, and facial/nasal pressure. Treatments include topical nose sprays, radiofrequency ablation (Vivaer) and surgery.

  • Chronic Nasal Drainage: Constant runny noses can be very bothersome, sometimes to the point of affecting daily activities or social interactions, such as at meals. Our detailed evaluation will determine whether a topical medication, such as nasal sprays (there are a multitude of different types for various causes of runny noses), oral medication, allergy evaluation, or a procedure (such as Clarifix) are most likely to solve your problem.

  • Nasal Blockage: A large variety of problems can cause nasal obstruction, such as chronic inflammation, irritation, infections, polyps, tumors, deviated septum and other structural abnormalities. Some of these can be treated with simple medications, some need further evaluation with scans, and others may require simple office based procedures (such as Latera implants or Vivaer RF procedure) or even more involved surgeries, such as polyp or tumor removal or reconstructive rhinoplasty (aka nasal valve repair). Our expert physician will take your through the evaluation and treatments step by step, to get you feeling and breathing your best.

Sinus

Sinus pain can be debilitating and affect your overall quality of life. Sinus sufferers know all too well the headaches, pressure around the eyes and nasal passages, and the combination of stuffy and runny nose that can make fulfilling everyday tasks feel impossible. On top of that, Ohio weather can be fierce and if you suffer from chronic sinus problems you know that the constantly changing barometer can mean that sinus pain and pressure can be intense. If you experience any of these symptoms, know that you don’t have to suffer anymore! In the past, surgery had been the only option for treating chronic sinus pain, but fortunately that’s no longer the case. Today, we can offer our patients minimially invasive procedures, done right in the office, that can help stop sinus pain and runny noses for good!

Chronic Sinusitis: Chronic sinusitis encompasses an wide range of symptoms. Common symptoms include nasal congestion (which can make breathing difficult),swelling and pain in the forehead or face, drainage of mucus from the nose or into the throat, recurrent or persistent sinus infection, headaches, fatigue, etc.  During your personalized evaluation, our sinonasal health expert physician will ensure that all treatment options have been exhausted for you prior to even considering surgery.

Conditions Requiring Sinus Surgery: This is indicated when all medical therapies have failed.  The purpose of sinus surgery is usually to remove blockages (such as polyps), resolve chronic infections,  improve drainage of mucus, and allow better delivery of medication. This type of surgery may involve the removal of bone, internal growths, or damaged / infected tissue.  During your personalized evaluation, Dr. Yerukhim, an expert sinus surgeon, will review with you and imaging that you may have, as well as options and indications for sinus surgery.

Balloon Sinuplasty: This is a newer, minimally invasive procedure for treatment of sinus disease and headaches. It often can be performed in the office, with local anesthesia. The procedure has minimal down-time and fewer risks of complications. Our sino-nasal surgery expert Dr. Yerukhim will review your candidacy for this procedure during your personalized evaluation.
